The Murr and Ruiz i Altaba Laboratories, within the department of Genetic Medicine and Development (GEDEV) in the University of Geneva, are seeking a full-time post-doctoral fellow in bioinformatics. The successful candidate will be co-mentored by Prof. Emmanouil Dermitzakis and offered a highly competitive salary.
Scientific interests: The successful candidate will use genomic and epigenomic approaches to:
1) Study the role of DNA methylation in transcription regulation in health and disease, with the aim of establishing novel epigenetic approaches for cancer treatment.
2) Study the role of DNA methylation in DNA damage response.
3) Study cancer stem cell properties under different conditions of stemness signaling pathway alterations.
Candidate requirements
Required Qualifications
- Ph.D. in Biology, Bioinformatics, Computer Science, or a related field.
- Excellent analytical skills and a strong statistical background.
- Strong programming skills:
- Languages: C/C++, Java, Perl, Python.
- Scientific computing and libraries: R, Matlab...
- Environment/OS: Linux, Unix (Shell Script), Windows.
- Research experience in epigenomic data analysis.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Very good oral/written communication and interpersonal skills to efficiently interact with the experimental collaborators.
- A strong publication record in peer-reviewed journals.
