The Department of Physiology and Biophysics at the University of Illinois at Chicago (UIC) College of Medicine seeks outstanding candidates for tenured faculty positions at the Assistant Professor level. The Department offers a dynamic environment with new leadership, growing research areas, and recently recruited junior faculty. UIC offers an exciting intellectual environment that is undergoing growth in several areas of research, with strong doctoral and MSTP training programs, outstanding core facilities, and superb opportunities for collaboration in the Chicago community. We seek faculty candidates whose research has demonstrated excellence at the intersection of cancer biology, vascular biology, and cellular metabolism. While candidates across a broad range of areas will be considered, we especially seek and encourage candidates with a record of innovative and collaborative research in cancer cachexia, tumor microenvironment, and sarcopenia in human disease. Applicants studying all types of cancer will be considered, but researchers of colon cancer, pancreatic cancer and breast cancer are preferred.
Applicants must have a Ph.D. and/or M.D., and a strong record of research excellence. The successful candidates will be expected to secure and maintain an extramurally-funded research program and to participate in teaching at the graduate and professional health sciences levels. The budgeted salary range for the position is $100,000 to $135,000. We strive to provide a competitive salary, considering factors such as available market data, internal equity, candidate experience and qualifications, and budget constraints. The final salary offer will be determined through a thorough assessment of these elements.
