Activities and Context: The postdoctoral fellow will investigate the epigenetic mechanisms underlying adventitious rooting and the “C effect” in forest tree species, integrating genetics, next-generation sequencing (NGS), and bioinformatics. Responsibilities include tissue sampling, DNA extraction, whole-genome bisulfite sequencing (WGBS), epigenomic pipeline development, DMR identification, multi-omics data integration, field experiments, phenotyping, data management, FAPESP reporting, and publication of scientific articles.
Candidate requirements
Mandatory Requirements
· Hold a Ph.D. obtained no more than seven years ago in the fields of Forest Science, Forest Engineering, Genetics and Breeding, or related areas.
· Consolidated mastery of advanced molecular biology techniques and high-quality nucleic acid extraction from diverse matrices, and proven experience with NGS platforms.
· Knowledge of bioinformatics, handling large volumes of biological data, and programming languages geared towards statistical analysis and genetic/genomic data, including the development and optimization of analysis pipelines.
· Ability to conduct nursery/field experiments and aptitude for working in a multidisciplinary team.
Desirable Requirements
· Knowledge of advanced statistical modeling, generalized linear mixed models (REML/BLUP), and integration of omics data.
· Aptitude for co-advising undergraduate and graduate students.
