The Room of Material Structures & Devices Laboratory in the Department of Chemical Engineering at Sunchon National University, Republic of Korea, led by Prof. Minsoo P. Kim, invites applications for a full-time postdoctoral researcher position.

The laboratory’s research program is organized into three interconnected themes:

1. Functional polymer synthesis and nanostructured materials

• Organic and polymer synthesis of functional polymeric materials
• Polymerization, crosslinking, and molecular-structure control
• Electrospun polymer nanofibers and nanostructured materials
• Sustainable and environmentally responsible polymer materials

2. Dielectric polarization control for energy harvesting and wearable sensing

• Molecular dipole alignment and interfacial polarization
• Dielectric polymers and dielectric-property control
• Triboelectric and piezoelectric energy-harvesting materials and devices
• Self-powered wearable pressure, strain, and biosignal sensors

3. Sustainable energy materials and lithium-ion battery recycling

• Lithium and valuable-metal recovery from spent lithium-ion batteries
• Purification of lithium compounds and cathode-material regeneration
• Direct regeneration and relithiation of cathode materials
• Electrochemical evaluation of recycled battery materials
• Environmentally sustainable battery-recycling processes

The specific research topic will be determined according to the candidate’s expertise and the laboratory’s ongoing projects.

Applicants with a Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering, Polymer Science, Organic Chemistry, Materials Science, Chemistry, Electrochemistry, or a related field are encouraged to apply.

Preferred qualifications include experience in organic or polymer synthesis, electrospinning, dielectric polarization, energy harvesting, wearable sensors, lithium recovery, battery recycling, cathode regeneration, or electrochemical analysis.
