About

Summary

I, Kumudesh Mishra, PhD from Sanjay Gandhi Postgraduate Institute of Medical Sciences, Lucknow, UP, India. My PhD viva has been successfully defended on 14th April 2016. I am looking for a promising Postdoctoral/Research Position that offers both a challenge and a good opportunity for my career growth. I have been working in the capacity of Senior Research Fellow awarded by Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) New Delhi. I hereby provide some information about my PhD thesis research work and various other research projects. My PhD thesis work particularly deals with to investigate the genetic association of growth factors/receptors polymorphisms with GBC. We have found significant association VEGF and PDGFB SNPs with GBC and published our research work in J Gastroenterol Hepatol. 2013; 28(10):1678-85 and Asian Pac J Cancer Prev.2015;16 (14):5647-54). Further we have performed protein expression analysis of VEGF, PDGFB and HER-2/neu by immuno-histo-chemistry (IHC) in GBC (manuscript under preparation). We are also working on to evaluate the mutation of KRAS, BRAF and PIK3CA in GBC by Real time quantitative polymerase chain reaction (RTqPCR) with high resolution melting curve analysis (HRM) and direct sequencing. These studies will provide prevalence of mutations in GBC, their behavior with the disease course and effect on conventional therapies and to design protocols for molecular targeted therapy. My research work was presented in various international/national conferences including XXXI World Congress of Internal Medicine Santiago Chile in 2012, 40th annual conference of Indian Society of Human Genetics (ISHG) Mumbai, India in 2015. I have expertise in the lab techniques including PCR techniques (RFLP, ARMS), gene and protein expression analysis by Real time PCR and Immuno-histo-chemistry (IHC) respectively, High Resolution Melting Curve (HRM) analysis and DNA sequencing. I have worked independently on various bioinformatics and statistical software packages including, Primer3, SPSS, PopGene, Arlequin, Graph pad etc.
I actively involved in designing and writing of various research projects related with gallbladder cancer have been sent to different funding agencies for extramural funding, data analysis, manuscript writing, and conference presentations.
My research area is gallbladder cancer and research interest to identify new diagnostic biomarkers for risk prediction/early diagnosis and drug target discovery for gallbladder cancer by applying genomics/ proteomics/transcriptomics.
