Summary
PhD student currently writing up my thesis. I have worked on high-throughput RNA interference screening for the study of genomics of complex diseases. The main focus has been beta-cell malfunction in type 2 diabetes and tumour microenvironment. I have experience in wetlab (especially molecular biology and cell culture) and bioinformatics. I'm currently looking for my first post-doc position.

Functional genomics of complex diseases. I mainly worked on genome-wide RNA interference screens using NGS as readout to uncover genes involved in beta-cell dysfunction in type 2 diabetes and genes involved in the relationship of tumorigenic cells and tumour microenvironment. I have also worked on GWA studies, statistical analysis and development of bioinformatic tools for the analysis of RNAi screens

Master thesis on the study of mitochondrial DNA to trace the movement of Viking women into the Isle of Man. I used Sanger sequencing to amplify mitochondrial DNA and analysed the data using several bioinformatic tools and statistical methods.
