Summary

Presently, I am Senior Consultant at Institute of Child Health, Kolkata where I set up a lab for Molecular Diagnostics.I was a professor of Biotechnology at Haldia Institute of Technology and do research in Bioremediation, phytopathogenic fungi and metagenomics. Earlier,I had set up the Dept of Biotechnology at Burdwan University and have supervised Ph.D.work of nine scholars.I also have experience in industrial R & D in a number of Indian and European organizations.

Teaching B.Tech and M.Tech students and conducting research with funding from Governmental agencies. Seven research scholars have completed their Ph.D.degrees under my supervision.

I am involved in teaching B.Tech and M.Tech students of Biotechnology. I have an ongoing research project from WBDST on Improving the efficiency of Microbiological fertilizers for environmental stresses. Seven scholars have done their Ph.Ds under my supervision and currently three are working for their thesis.

In the laboratory of Prof Sherman Weissman at Yale Medical School, I studied the splicing of late mRNAs of the animal virus, SV40.

Bose Institute, Kolkata 1973 - 1977

Degree: Ph.D

During my doctoral studies, I isolated specific receptor protein for plant hormone, IAA and studied its effect on transcription, the biochemical and molecular characterization of the receptor.
