Summary

The complex structure, mild physical and chemical properties, appropriate temperature, humidity and rich nutrient sources of the oral provide a very suitable environment for the settlement, growth and reproduction of more than 700 kinds of microorganisms. Oral microorganisms include not only bacteria, but also fungi, viruses, spirochetes and archaea.

Introduction

Under normal circumstances, close and complex interactions between oral microbial communities, and between microbes and hosts maintain the health of the host. Disruption of this ecological balance will cause diseases. Major oral diseases such as caries, periodontal disease, bacteremia and oral cancer seriously affect life and health. Among them, caries is closely related to Streptococcus mutans, and the culprit of chronic periodontitis is Porphyromonas gingivalis, however, their harm is far beyond the oral. For example, periodontitis can easily cause diabetes, cardiovascular disease, premature delivery as well as other major systemic diseases.

Materials

The main research directions of oral microbes including,

Study the oral microbial flora at different stages of growth and development.
Search for the difference in oral flora between the disease group and the healthy group.
Explore the relationship between oral microbes and oral health.
Identify drug targets for oral diseases.

Procedure

The sample types are saliva and respiratory secretions. Recommend to use our product - microbial sample collection.
The requirements of DNA sample: total DNA ≥ 500ng, DNA concentration ≥ 10ng/μL, OD260/280 = 1.8 - 2.0.
The main detection types are oral bacteria and fungi.
