Carbonate buffer (50 mM)

Materials

To make 1 L of carbonate buffer, you need:

  • 1.6 g Na2CO3
  • 2.9 g NaHCO3
  • deionized water

Procedure

  1. Dissolve Na2CO3 and NaHCO3 in 800 mL deionized water.
  2. Adjust pH to 9.6.
  3. Add deionized water to 1L.

Final buffer will contain 15 mM Na2CO3 and 35 mM NaHCO3.
