DNA Gel Loading Buffers

Procedure

1. 10X DNA Gel Loading Dye with Glycerol:

• 0.5% bromophenol blue
• 0.5% xylene cyanol FF
• 50% glycerol

         Prepare in ultrapure water. Store at 4°C.

2. 6X DNA Gel Loading Dye with Ficoll:

• 0.25% bromophenol blue
• 0.25% xylene cyanol FF
• 15% Ficoll (Type 400 Pharmacia)

         Prepare in ultrapure water.

Notes:

1. Use only Ficoll Loading Dye with TBE gels. Glycerol will interact wit boric acid.
2. If you desire, you can add EDTA at 10 mM final concentration to your DNA loading dye.
