Abstract

This prospective study reports an outbreak of enteric fever from Thane and nearby areas in Maharashtra, India, over a 4-month period between April 2025 and July 2025. Out of 167 culture-proven enteric fever cases, 44 (26.35%) exhibited ceftriaxone resistance. The majority of these (36 out of 44; 81.82%) were reported from a small geographical area of GB Road in Thane. Tanker water supply was significantly associated with ceftriaxone resistance.
