Abstract
Blunt aortic injury is rare in the pediatric population and usually results from high-energy trauma such as motor vehicle collisions. We report an 8-year-old boy with polytrauma who sustained a grade III infrarenal blunt aortic injury after a motor vehicle collision and underwent endovascular aortic repair. Pediatric endovascular management presents unique challenges, including small vessel size, future somatic aortic growth, and uncertainty regarding long-term stent durability. Data describing endovascular repair of infrarenal blunt aortic injury in children remain limited. This case highlights important technical considerations and supports endovascular repair as a viable alternative to open repair in select pediatric patients.
