Abstract

Cardiorespiratory fitness (VO₂max) reflects the body's ability to uptake, transport, and utilise oxygen during exercise and is a strong independent predictor of morbidity and mortality. Regular physical activity improves cardiovascular and muscular function, increases VO₂max, and reduces disease risk. Maintaining fitness throughout life promotes healthy aging, longevity, and improved quality of life.
