Abstract

Accumulating evidence indicates that gut microbiota extensively modulates the toxicity of chemotherapeutics. However, the role of microbiota in chemotherapy-induced myelosuppression (CIM) remains poorly characterized. This review synthesizes the pivotal role of gut microbiota in regulating hematopoiesis, summarizes recent findings on the links between gut microbiota and CIM, and discusses emerging strategies for alleviating CIM through microbiota modulation. Our analysis pinpoints key gaps and novel insights for targeted CIM therapies.
