Crisis Pregnancy Center Names in the United States, 2024.

Abstract

To describe names of the 2,633 crisis pregnancy centers (CPCs) in the United States in 2024.
Using CPC Map, a national geolocated directory of CPCs, we categorized center's client-facing names as a) portraying healthcare facilities or b) unbiased and supportive of reproductive autonomy. We examined associations between percentages of names in each or either category and state policies (CPC grant funding and abortion bans).
Nationally, 16.0% presented as healthcare facilities, 12.6% unbiased, and 25.5% as either, with state variation. Names were not associated with state policies.
CPCs commonly used names that may misrepresent their licensure and agenda.
