Abstract
Proteomic data, including protein identification, expression profiles, and modifications, have gained significant relevance in the molecular sciences. The mechanistic investigations on the growth and metastasis of tumours, for instance, cancer proteomics, have provided crucial information for the discovery of treatment targets as well as therapeutically helpful indicators. Several cancer proteome databases have evolved worldwide. The incorporation of proteomics studies alongside new omics is vital, as it generates a wealth of information about targets, molecular pathways, and modulators. Various bioinformatic tools can be used to analyse and process these records, producing pertinent information. The objective of this review is to provide a general overview of cancer proteomics and recent developments in proteomic methods. This compilation aims to provide insights into the current proteomics research being conducted on various types of tumors, where proteomic applications are still in their infancy. This study encompasses proteomics applications, ranging from biomarker identification to molecular pathway characterization, facilitated by technological advancements. Additionally, it discusses international developments in proteomics methods for translational research. The ongoing advancement in this sector is anticipated to deliver valuable data on a scale beyond what has ever been observed, as it is a fundamental technique in translational research.
