Abstract

An N-isocyanide bearing an imidazolin-2-ylideniminato substituent was synthesized and shown to be a remarkably strong σ donor. Spectroscopic, crystallographic, and computational analyses establish this isocyanide ligand among the most donating isocyanides reported, anticipating a new design for ligands in coordination chemistry.
