Abstract
Crystal phase has emerged as a powerful yet under-explored parameter for tuning the catalytic behavior of noble metal-based nanomaterials. In this review, we provide a systematic overview of the recent advances in crystal phase-tailored noble metal-based nanocatalysts. First, we introduce the role of crystal phase in heterogeneous catalysis. Then, we discuss the synthesis strategies with typical examples, highlighting the mechanisms of the crystal phase control. Next, we summarize the phase-dependent catalytic applications, emphasizing the underlying structure-activity relationships. We also discuss the key characterization and analytical techniques used in this field with typical examples. Finally, we propose existing challenges and future opportunities in crystal-phase-tailored noble metal-based nanocatalysts to inspire further advances in this rapidly evolving field.
