Abstract

We report the case of a 64-year-old female patient with an unclear cervical paraesophageal space-occupying mass. During surgical exploration of the neck to clarify the histopathological dignity, an arteriovenous malformation was suspected. However, contrary to expectations, postoperative catheter angiography revealed bilateral agenesis of the internal jugular vein. Several cases of unilateral agenesis of the internal jugular vein have been described in the literature, but to the best of our knowledge, no bilateral case has been reported previously.
