Abstract
To explore the effect of auricular point pressure on postoperative constipation in children with hypospadias.
A total of 164 children undergoing hypospadias surgery were randomly divided into an observation group (82 cases, 2 cases were eliminated,2 cases dropped out) and a control group (82 cases, 2 cases were eliminated). The control group received standard perioperative care, the observation group received auricular point pressure on the basis of the treatment in the control group, shenmen (TF4), dachang (CO7), xiaochang (CO6), zhichang (HX2), and pizhixia (AT4) were selected, each point was pressed for 1-2 min each time, three times a day, alternating between both ears, and replaced every 3 days, starting from 1 day before surgery and until the 5th day after surgery. The incidence of postoperative constipation, the time to first postoperative bowel movement, and the incidence of postoperative complications were observed in the two groups.
The incidence of postoperative constipation in the observation group was lower than that in the control group (P<0.001), and the time to first postoperative bowel movement in the observation group was shorter than that in the control group (P<0.001). There was no statistically significant difference in the incidence of postoperative complications between the two groups (P>0.05).
Auricular point pressure can effectively reduce the incidence of postoperative constipation in children with hypospadias, and promote the recovery of gastrointestinal function after surgery.
