Abstract

Non-traumatic abdominal pain is one of the most common presenting symptoms in the emergency department. Due to the wide range of possible causes, a structured and standardized assessment in the emergency department is necessary and prognostically relevant. This article describes the evidence-based pathway from symptom to diagnosis in the emergency department.
