Abstract
With ongoing digitalization, questions concerning the management of digital legacies are becoming increasingly relevant for older adults, yet remain insufficiently addressed. There are legal, technical, and psychosocial challenges as well as gaps in research and support structures.
The study examines attitudes and precautionary behaviours regarding digital legacy among professionals and volunteers aged 50 and above in hospice and palliative care.
Quantitative and qualitative data from a nationwide online survey of 293 participants from hospice and palliative care were analysed. Descriptive statistics were performed using SPSS, while free-text responses were analysed according to Mayring's qualitative content analysis.
Although the importance of digital legacies is acknowledged, concrete precautionary actions are rarely taken. Varied attitudes and needs indicate a demand for accessible, practice-oriented information and counselling services. Further research should pursue more diverse approaches to enhance supportive structures in practical contexts.
