Abstract

Puerto Rico faces a high burden of chronic disease, an aging population, and fragmented health infrastructure - conditions that create both urgency and opportunity for precision medicine. This article summarizes insights from the Advancing Precision-Based, Integrative, and Individualized Health Care in Puerto Rico symposium, which convened cross-sector leaders to identify strategies for scaling precision medicine approaches across the island. Key recommendations include strengthening genomic and digital infrastructure, aligning reimbursement and regulatory frameworks, expanding clinician and patient education, and integrating culturally responsive care models. Together, these actions offer a road map for advancing precision medicine in Puerto Rico while providing lessons for other diverse and resource-constrained health systems.
