Abstract

Reporting of clinical trials is essential for evidence-based medicine, yet many trials remain unreported. In a recently published study of 2 112 Nordic clinical studies completed 2016-2019, we found that only 52% had reported results within two years and 78% during the entire follow-up. To highlight this issue, we have created an online dashboard (https://metaresearch.se/nordic-trials-dashboard) that compares reporting between public sponsors. Examples of improved reporting in other countries, notably the United Kingdom, show that progress can be supported by centralized follow-up and institutional support. We argue that similar measures should be considered in Sweden, to relieve researchers of administrative burden while improving transparency.
