Abstract
A triple selectivity switch in the photocatalytic reaction of α-trifluoromethyl alkenes with alcohols is disclosed. In place of the conventional β-fluoride elimination pathway, a single-electron oxidation manifold enables CF3-retentive anti-Markovnikov hydroalkoxylation. Switching the reaction atmosphere, photocatalyst, and solvent further diverts the same starting materials to defluorinative esterification and aerobic hydroxylative alkoxylation, providing a divergent synthesis of fluorinated and ester-functionalized structures.
