Abstract
Recently, hyaluronic acid-based soft tissue fillers have gradually become one of the preferred treatment strategies for the correction of infraorbital hollowing (IH). This study aims to evaluate the efficacy and safety of injectable cross-linked sodium hyaluronate gel containing lidocaine for correcting IH.
A total of 33 patients with moderate or severe IH who received injection treatment with injectable cross-linked sodium hyaluronate gel containing lidocaine were enrolled and followed up periodically. Allergan Infraorbital Hollowing Scale (AIHS), changes in infraorbital volume (IV), Global Aesthetic Improvement Scale (GAIS), patient satisfaction, dark circle disturbance, and laboratory test results were utilized to evaluate its efficacy and safety in correcting IH.
96.97% of patients showing an improvement of ≥1 grade at 3 months after the last treatment. The patient satisfaction at 1 month, 3 months, and 6 months after the last injection was 94.5%, 84.85%, and 96.97%, respectively. Compared with baseline, IV increased on the left side in 87.88% of patients and on the right side in 78.79% of patients. Improvements in overall cosmetic outcomes were observed in all patients. Additionally, the proportion of patients reporting no disturbance or no dark circles after treatment increased significantly, while those with moderate or severe disturbance reported only minor disturbance after treatment.
Injectable cross-linked sodium hyaluronate gel containing lidocaine can correct moderate to severe IHs to a certain extent and is a filler with clinical application potential.
