Systemic Sarcoidosis Presenting as Toe Dactylitis: A Case Report.

Abstract

Sarcoidosis is a chronic, idiopathic granulomatous disease primarily affecting the lungs and intrathoracic lymph nodes, although it can involve nearly any organ system, including bones. Osseous involvement of sarcoidosis is uncommon and rarely the initial manifestation of the disease. We present a rare case of toe dactylitis as the sole presenting symptom of systemic sarcoidosis, with further evaluation revealing osseous, pulmonary, lymphatic, and subcutaneous involvement. This case highlights an unusual musculoskeletal presentation of sarcoidosis, as well as the imaging findings that can aid in diagnosis.
