Do Mass and Social Media have Roles in Preventing and Controlling COVID-19 among Adolescents in Jakarta?

Abstract

This study aims to determine the role of mass and social media in the prevention and control of COVID-19 among adolescents in DKI Jakarta.
This research was conducted using a cross-sectional design. The participants in this study were 228 adolescents in the DKI Jakarta area. The data were collected using a questionnaire (Google Form) and analyzed by Chi-square test using SPSS.
The results of the analysis showed that there was no relationship between mass and social media and COVID-19 prevention and control efforts among adolescents in DKI Jakarta (p 0.38). Adolescents perceived themselves as low risk of contracting COVID-19 so the message to prevent and control COVID-19 using mass and social media do not have impact on them.
There is no relationship between mass and social media and the prevention and control of COVID-19 in adolescents. It is recommended to increase the knowledge of adolescents about COVID-19, especially in school health facilities.
