Abstract

This review systematically summarizes representative advances in the construction of seven-membered ring compounds via NHC catalysis since 2022. The reported methodologies are categorized into five key strategies based on their reaction modes: a1-to-d1 addition, esterification, Michael addition, vinylogous electrophilic addition, and homoenolate reactions. This review aims to delineate the underlying principles governing this field and to provide a reference for the future development of novel catalytic modes and the synthesis of complex ring systems.
