Abstract

To assess the visual, refractive, and rotational stability outcomes of double C-loop haptic intraocular lenses (IOLs) across different optic designs.
This retrospective study included 69 eyes implanted with PODEYE toric, Serenity toric, and FineVision HP toric IOLs (Beaver-Visitec International, Inc. USA). A total of 23 eyes per group were analyzed at 3-months postoperatively. Subjective refraction, monocular uncorrected distance visual acuity and corrected distance visual acuity (CDVA), and rotational stability were evaluated in all cases.
In the PODEYE toric IOL group, 100% of eyes were within ±0.50D with a mean spherical equivalent (SE) of 0.06±0.26D; in the Serenity toric IOL group, this percentage was 78.26% with a mean SE of -0.28±0.38D, while in the FineVision HP toric IOL group, 86.96% of eyes were within ±0.50D, with a mean SE of 0.22±0.30D (p<0.001). Mean CDVA was -0.02±0.04, -0.02±0.04, and -0.05±0.07 logMAR in the PODEYE toric, Serenity toric, and FineVision HP toric IOLs groups, respectively (p=0.047). In the PODEYE toric IOL group, 23.81% and 100% of eyes achieved a cumulative CDVA of ≥20/16 and ≥20/20, respectively. Corresponding values were 17.39% and 100% for the Serenity toric IOL group, and 52.17% and 95.65% for the FineVision HP toric IOL group. Mean IOL rotation was 1.09±0.79, 1.70±1.72 and 1.78±1.31 degrees for the PODEYE toric, Serenity toric, and FineVision HP toric IOLs groups (p=0.16). 100% of eyes exhibited rotation ≤10 degrees, and 100%, 91.30% and 100% of eyes in the PODEYE toric, Serenity toric, and FineVision HP toric IOLs groups, respectively, showed rotation ≤5 degrees (p=0.108).
Double C-loop haptic IOLs provide excellent refractive, distance visual acuity, and rotational stability outcomes across different optic designs.
