Abstract
Presbyopia is a common visual health problem among middle-aged and older adults, affecting the quality of near vision and quality of life. With continuing advances in the individualized, precise, and longitudinal management of presbyopia, as well as the ongoing development of correction technologies, including functional spectacles, laser corneal refractive surgery, posterior chamber phakic intraocular lens implantation, and refractive lens exchange, a single-specialty model of presbyopia care may no longer adequately meet the growing visual health needs of people with presbyopia or the requirements for high-quality clinical care. In response, the Chinese Optometric Association of Chinese Ophthalmological Society and the Presbyopia Diagnosis and Treatment Academic Division of the Ophthalmology Professional Committee of the Chinese Non-government Medical Institutions Association jointly convened experts from relevant fields across China. Based on the available evidence and clinical experience, and using standardized methods for guideline and consensus development, the expert panel addressed 11 clinical questions concerning presbyopia correction and its multispecialty management and formulated 23 consensus recommendations. This consensus aims to provide guidance and reference for the standardized clinical practice of presbyopia correction.
