Abstract

A 52 year old male, without medical history, had painful shins for several months. X-ray showed lytic bone reaction and blood results showed a primary hyperparathyroidism. The diagnosis was osteitis fibrosa cystica, a rare, benign bone lesion. Increased parathyroid hormone leads to high osteoclastic bone turnover causes osseous deformities and fractures.
