DRESS during chemotherapy with carboplatin, pemetrexed, and osimertinib for lung adenocarcinoma: A case report.

Abstract

We report a case of a 40-year-old woman with lung adenocarcinoma who developed a drug reaction with eosinophilia and systemic symptoms (DRESS) during chemotherapy with carboplatin, pemetrexed, and osimertinib. She presented with fever, extensive erythematous rash, and hepatorenal dysfunction (RegiSCAR score = 7). Discontinuation of the offending drugs and supportive care alone led to the complete resolution of the symptoms. She was successfully transitioned to gefitinib without recurrence of symptoms. This case highlights the need for an accurate diagnosis and careful consideration of the indication for corticosteroid therapy in DRESS to ensure timely withdrawal of offending drugs and successful subsequent cancer therapy.
