[Superficial venous thrombosis of the lower extremities].

Abstract

Superficial venous thrombosis, SVT, is a common disease and patients with SVT are at risk of suffering from both deep venous thrombosis, DVT, and pulmonary embolism. There is a lack of national interdisciplinary consensus and structure for investigation and treatment in Sweden regarding SVT. This lack of standardized care should be corrected, primarily through cooperation and representation from primary care, emergency care, ultrasound care, coagulation care and vascular surgery care in order to establish standards of care regarding this condition.
