Abstract
The article is devoted to important section of pediatric combustiology, i.e. generalized meningococcal infection characterized by severe course, high risk of disabling complications, life-threatening conditions and high mortality. Pathogenesis of disease is briefly described. Clinical examples demonstrate late diagnosis of meningococcal infection, problems in intensive care for septic shock. Methods for surgical restoration of damaged skin and underlying tissues following generalized meningococcal infection are substantiated. Indications and timing for amputation are defined.
