Abstract

Severe acute pancreatitis is a systemic inflammatory disease that can lead to distant organ damage, including the myocardium. In rare cases, this can manifest as a myocardial infarction, posing significant diagnostic and therapeutic challenges. We report a case of acute pancreatitis with simultaneous anterior ST-elevation myocardial infarction in a 28-year-old man who presented with abdominal pain. Coronary angiography confirmed a thrombotic lesion in the left anterior descending artery. This case highlights the importance of considering true coronary pathology in patients with acute pancreatitis presenting with ECG changes. A review of the literature suggests that most reported cases occurred in males without conventional cardiovascular risk factors, implying alternative pathogenic mechanisms.
