Abstract

To evaluate the metabolic parameters of emergency nursing professionals before and after the use of Rosmarinus officinalis L.
This is a quasi-experimental study conducted in urgency services in Southern Brazil. Estimated sample of 46 nursing professionals. It took place from August to November 2022 and used a socio-labor questionnaire, blood collection and anthropometric measurements. After collecting the parameters studied, participants received two bottles with 56 capsules of Rosmarinus dry extract (500 mg each) to be ingested twice a day (dose of 1 g/day), for 8 weeks, after the same parameters were collected. Data were analyzed with descriptive and inferential statistics.
A total of 36 professionals participated. After the intervention, there was a reduction in triglyceride and total cholesterol parameters; high-density lipoprotein dosage decreased, with maintenance of the parameter within the normal range; there were no changes in blood glucose levels, body mass index or Low-density lipoprotein cholesterol.
After using Rosmarinus, there was a reduction in triglycerides and total cholesterol in nursing professionals.
