Abstract
Enterocutaneous fistulas are not rare complications in abdominal surgical centers, they cause many serious complications and increase mortality. Non-surgical treatments require a synchronized combination of many contents, aim at such goals as: medical stabilization, infection control, nutritional support and waiting for primary closure of fistula. Surgery is indicated when the fistula does not natually close after 2-6 months. In this case, enterocutaneous fistula responded well to non-surgical treatments after more than 7 months. Report a clinical case of complicated enterocutaneous fistula.
A 30-year-old male patient with complicated enterocutaneous fistula developed following four emergency sugeries due to pancreaticoduodenal trauma, with many serious complications, has been successfully treated by non-surgical treatments for more than 7 months prior to jejunostomy closure.
Complicated enteric fistula after pancreaticoduodenal trauma surgeries could be successful with intensive, patient and synchronous non-surgical treatments of many methods. Infection control and adequate nutritional support played a key role, fistuloclysis and chyme reinfusion brought many benefits.
Complicated enterocutaneous fistula could be successfully managed with intensive non-sugical treatments of many methods over a long period of time.
