Abstract

Ankle sprain is a common sports injury. A significant portion of patients may develop chronic lateral ankle instability (CLAI). Currently, there is insufficient consensus on the diagnosis and treatment of CLAI. The 2025 Chinese clinical practice consensus and guideline on CLAI updates and formulates a standardized treatment plan for CLAI based on a review of evidence-based literature and discussions among expert groups. The consensus statement includes 10 recommendations covering diagnosis, psychological intervention, conservative treatment, surgical treatment, and postoperative rehabilitation. This consensus statement will actively promote the standardization of CLAI diagnosis and treatment.
