Abstract
A major barrier to faith community nurse (FCN) program success is the lack of financial support; however, a current knowledge gap exists regarding FCN compensation. The current study explored FCN compensation through a three-step approach: examination of professional guiding documents for nursing and FCN practice, a standalone literature review, and development of a national FCN compensation survey. Seventy-six percent (76%) of the 97 survey respondents (n = 74) reported not being compensated. Study results underpinned the creation of a Westberg Institute position statement: Compensating the Faith Community Nurse.
