Abstract

Colorectal cancer (CRC) is one of leading causes of cancer-related morality globally. Colonoscopy with polypectomy allows for resection of dysplastic polyps and early CRC, and has been shown to reduce the incidence of CRC and CRC-related morality. This article highlights several important aspects of an effective polypectomy practice including visual inspection, polypectomy techniques, and their respective indications, adverse events, and indications for referral. Most endoscopists will not be competent in all polypectomy and resection techniques on completion of training and ongoing education is paramount as we aim to reduce to incidence, morbidity, and mortality associated with CRC.
