Abstract
This article examines the role of Affectivity in collaborative musical improvisation from a cultural-semiotic perspective. Drawing on published empirical accounts of free and jazz improvisation, we analyze how affective-semiotic regulation participates in the changing relations among musicians, musical materials, perspectives, and possibilities for action. The analysis focuses on pleromatization and schematization, perspectival-reflective semiosis, self-regulation, and orientation toward future possibilities. We argue that Affectivity operates across the distributed relations described by the 5 A's framework, participating in how these relations acquire significance and orient creative action. On this basis, the 6 A's Model is proposed as a heuristic extension that makes this transversal regulatory dimension explicit. The article contributes an affective-semiotic account of how creative activity can remain organized while preserving openness to possibilities that are not determined in advance.
