Abstract
Cerebral medullary veins are involved in a wide range of pathologies affecting the central nervous system during childhood. The aim of this article is to provide an anatomical overview of the cerebral venous system and to review the main conditions affecting the medullary veins in this age group, outlining their pathophysiology and the characteristic imaging findings across different imaging modalities. Vascular causes are the most common, but medullary vein involvement can also be seen in hypoxic-ischaemic encephalopathy, malformative syndromes, and inflammatory or infectious diseases.
