Abstract

We explored whether infant colonization by Clostridioides difficile potentially originates in the pediatrician's office. Three hundred surface cultures were obtained from 3 practices. C. difficile was detected in all 3. Twelve cultures (4.0%) yielded C. difficile; 7 were toxigenic. The organism was recovered from 7 of 60 (11.7%) examination rooms.
