Abstract
Metonitazene is a novel psychoactive substance belonging to the nitazene class. It possesses potent analgesic effects comparable to those of fentanyl. However, an overdose of metonitazene can result in respiratory arrest and even death. Based on relevant domestic and international research, this paper systematically reviews the toxicological effects, toxicity data, symptoms of poisoning, invivo process of metonitazene, and the toxicological analytical findings from reported cases, with the aim of providing a reference for forensic identification.
