Abstract

The Danish strategy for personalised medicine 2025-2027 includes initiatives for improving the use of pharmacogenetic (PGx) information to guide drug therapy. While PGx is already in use, its potential to prevent side effects and improve treatment success is not fully realised. 20% of Danish adults are already genotyped, which is a powerful resource, and this review emphasises the need for improved infrastructure and data access for physicians. The experience with return of genetic results is good but must be balanced with considerations on both cost-benefit and clinical effect.
