Abstract

Dermatobia hominis is a rare cause of cutaneous myiasis in Northern Europe but should be considered in travellers from endemic regions. A 44-year-old man developed a painful furuncular lesion after visiting Costa Rica; a central pore and manual expression revealed a live larva. This case report underscores diagnostic challenges and the need for timely extraction.
