Abstract

Percutaneous retrieval is a well-established, minimally invasive method for removing foreign bodies from blood vessels. We experienced a 77-year-old man in whom a radiolucent pigtail catheter straightener had been mis-inserted into the abdominal aorta and was successfully retrieved using an EN Snare device. This report demonstrates that operators must remain aware of the risk of accidentally inserting pigtail catheter straighteners into blood vessels.
