Abstract
The professionalization of medical education is an essential, strategic renewal movement, driven by the need to graduate competent, ethical physicians who meet the demands of healthcare systems. This paradigm is structured around 3 interdependent axes: medical professionalism development (student), competency-based education (CBE) (institution), and medical faculty professionalization. The most advanced curricular model recommended is Entrustable Professional Activities (EPA), which translates generic competencies into observable and evaluable clinical tasks, such as obtaining a complete patient history. Successful implementation requires supporting infrastructure, including e-portfolio and learning management systems (LMS) for longitudinal tracking. The crucial challenge lies in transforming the teacher from a "clinical expert" to a "clinical-pedagogical expert", which necessitates restructuring the academic career with incentives, promotions, and compensation that value pedagogical training equally with clinical practice. Overcoming the institutional, faculty, and economic resistances generated by this reform depends on leadership capacity to manage change through the empowerment of leaders and modular micro-training.
