Abstract
The Senj Printing House was one of the first printing houses to operate in Croatia. At the turn from the 15th to the 16th century, it printed religious books in the angular Glagolitic script. Books with non-liturgical content predominate among the surviving copies. In this paper, we have analyzed selected editions published by the Senj Printing House: Naručnik plebanušev (Senj, 1507), Korizmenjak (Senj, 1508), Meštrija dobra umrtija s ritualom (Senj, 1507/1508), and Mirakuli Slavne Deve Marije (Senj, 1508). These are books that were used by medieval priests and were useful to them across all segments of pastoral care. It should be emphasized that these are not actual medical texts, but rather manuals covering a broad range of priestly activities. This analysis includes, on the one hand, an examination of the medical terminology represented in them, while, on the other hand, a content analysis of selected texts primarily focused on understanding various diseases and their treatment.
